“By working with Transus, we don’t have to worry about how our customer wants to receive EDI documents.”

Importer and distributor of consumer electronics Van Buuren about working with EDI.

Van Buuren is a leading importer and distributor of consumer electronics with a large product portfolio and tailor-made solutions. Van Buuren is an indispensable link between manufacturers and retailers.

Trading partner demands EDI

Van Buuren's customer base ranges from independent retailers to large retail chains. “We started working with EDI because of our customer Makro Nederland”, Peter Spaan begins. At the time, Van Buuren approached GS1 to tell them about the various EDI providers on the market and attended a GS1 event, where he met Transus.

“Connections with our trading partners have never really been a problem.” Van Buuren has been doing digital business with other major players including Albert Heijn, bol.com, Carrefour, Expert, and Media Markt for years now. They receive orders via EDI and send order confirmations, shipping notes, and invoices, as well as creating SSCC labels to identify and track deliveries in transit. Spaan continues: “EDI is really essential now”.

EDI made easy

“By working with Transus, we don’t have to worry about how our customer wants to receive EDI documents.” Van Buuren works with its own ERP system and can still tailor its approach to its customers. “We’ve had to make specific adjustments for customers, which never took more than some close cooperation.” All Spaan had to do was send a support ticket.

The really convenient part of Transus is the system itself. “For us, EDI is mainly a great way to save time. After all, orders are imported automatically and we no longer have to physically mail packing slips and invoices.” Van Buuren and its trading partners do business together, but each have their own system.
