ATLANTA – October 28, 2008 – RoadLink is one of the Top 50 Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PLs) to food companies, according to the September 2008 issue of Food Logistics magazine. RoadLink and other 3PLs recognized in the annual list of top 50 winners offer a broad scope of services and capabilities that enable food companies to reduce costs, increase flexibility and improve service levels, according to the magazine.
"Our readers turn to Food Logistics to learn about new services for improving productivity and reducing costs throughout their organizations," explained Katherine Doherty, editor in chief of Food Logistics. “Today, many food companies are outsourcing various supply chain activities to gain a competitive advantage.”
RoadLink specializes in providing logistical efficiencies. Since acquiring World Super Services (WSS) and Staffworks in 2007 — rebranded as RoadLink Warehouse Solutions — RoadLink has strived to offer its customers integrated solutions. This is accomplished by leveraging its North American intermodal transportation capabilities and technological expertise with flexible workforce management solutions.
Recently, RoadLink was able to dramatically improve customer service, improve efficiency and reduce costs, for a major national grocery store chain by providing visibility of their inbound supply chain and consolidating their providers.
“We were already providing unloading and other warehouse services for our customer and thus became aware of their problems,” said Ken Kellaway, RoadLink Warehouse Solutions Chief Operating Officer. Among the identified problems for which RoadLink provided solutions:
• Low levels of customer satisfaction resulting from an inability to provide accurate order fulfillment
information
• Too many drayage providers and little, if any, technology to interface with warehouse management
systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS)
• Inefficient distribution center (DC) operations driven by lack of visibility of the trucks, trailers and
containers
RoadLink logistics engineers, working with their customer counterparts, implemented systems that now provide complete Internet visibility of this customer’s import supply chain. RoadLink’s TrueVision technology provides seamless connectivity between the advance shipping notification (ASN), to the DC, to offload reconciliation — all these activities are synchronized with customer’s WMS and TMS. TrueVision and RoadLink handhelds are used by RoadLink drivers and their warehouse Associates to provide closed-loop and seamless real-time dataflow between inbound transportation, yard activity and warehouse activities. RoadLink’s customers can now manage every step of their import supply chain.
